Palm Springs, CA, 2/9/72: “Bob Hope surprised Alan Shepard with his own ‘Moon Golf Cart’ as Shepard was scheduled to tee off at Bermuda Dunes here today in the first round of the Bob Hope Desert Golf Classic. At the photographers’ bidding, queen Brucene Smith of the tournament gave Shepard a kiss on the cheek. The cart is filled with gag electronic equipment.”
