2/15/63, Windsor Locks, CT: “Lt. Cmdr. John W. Young, a member of the new group of astronauts, watches a demonstration of a mockup of a space life survival unit which may keep him alive on the moon someday. Apollo space suit project engineer John C. Beggs (L) explains the unit mounted on engineer Andrew Hoffman during a tour of Hamilton Standard 2/14.”

A unit like that would indeed keep Young alive on the moon, nine years later.
